Postpartum Care Provider

The immediate time after giving birth, the early postpartum period is across cultures throughout the world and throughout time, considered a sacred window of healing, restoration, and rebirth of the woman as Mother.

The postpartum mother is at the heart of the family and of our communities, and so she deserves to be cared for as tenderly as the life she has brought forth. Both a luxury and a necessity, this is a time to rest deeply, to tend to the healing of the body - and most especially the lower belly, womb and pelvic bowl area, and thrive fully—supported by the family and community that surrounds her. My service is to support you in weaving the threads of support that will enact that Village (even if physically there is not an intact one) and to equally be a hands on care provider.

The mother also needs to be listened to, contained and supported so that she can become mother. As she builds her new maternal identity. As she enables the full arrival of her baby’s psyque. The transition to motherhood requires time, recovering, witnessing and support.

Primarily for a new mother, but even if you have had prior children, every time a new baby is born a new aspect of you as mother is born alongside baby. The early time after Birth, known as the fourth trimester in the early postpartum period, is the extended part of this rite of passage that requires a lot of tending.

As we affirm our new identifies, many shifts occur, and receiving postpartum care allows the navigation of these new waters to be a smooth and blissful, even an ecstatic transition, - from rediscovering your new found bodies, to a re-patterning of your intimate relationships to exploring and reclaiming, potentially, a new expression of your female sexuality.

Part of my offering is also to hold space for you to narrate your birth story, to retrieve the potential lessons, and to renegotiate any aspects that need healing.

“Navigating the early days of motherhood is a healing journey no one can truly prepare for. During this transformational time, having the support of a woman who understands the intricacies of postpartum care is invaluable—something you simply cannot put a price tag on. This is exactly what Maite provided for me as my postpartum doula, and it's an experience I believe so strongly every new mother deserves.

Maite’s offerings wasn’t just the tangible healing support she provided, though those were beautiful and deeply appreciated. It was her presence—calm, reassuring, and completely dedicated to helping me navigate the early, often daunting days of motherhood. In a world where we long for the village that supports us, Maite embodies that spirit, fostering an environment where women can support each other during their most vulnerable times.

Her guidance helped me prioritize nourishing myself, which was essential for my healing and well-being. This, in turn, allowed me to be the mother I wanted to be for my baby. Collaborating with Maite was an amazing experience, and I truly wish that every woman around the world could have access to a postpartum doula like her.

If you’re considering hiring Maite as your doula or postpartum care provider, know that she will be there for you, helping to create that much-needed village around you. Her support is a gift that will nurture not only your body but also your spirit during one of the most significant transitions of your life”

Being in this field since 2017, time and time again, I see women and families dedicating months preparing for birth, versus hardly any for what is to come in their early postpartum experience. I am here to bridge this great gap and happy to have planning sessions so that you arrive as prepared as possible.

As your postpartum care provider, I will support YOU in discovering the Mother you are, as well as support in your healing and recovery. My care and support is structured in the following way.

Postpartum Care Services include:

  • One prenatal consultation. We discuss your pregnancy, preferences for birth and expectations for your postpartum experience

  • One postpartum check in at home or hospital within the first 24 hours of birth to check in how you are, how birth unfolded and lay out together what your needs will be in the following weeks

  • 8 postpartum visits (2 hours each). All sessions are at your home and customised to your specific desires, and the first 6 will be weekly visits within the first forty days of healing and recovery. In every session I prepare a nutrient dense nourishing snack for you to enjoy while we gather, or even prepare a meal for you to enjoy later. These sessions will be a combination of: integrating your birth experience, your physical and emotional care after birth (such as supporting your yoni and womb wellness through pelvic steaming, herbal baths, belly binding, moxabustion and/or castor oil therapy), as well as discuss our shared wisdom around the physiological needs of your newborn through support in different aspects of care, all in favour of supporting you find your own unique style of mothering. The remaining two visits will be scheduled as you desire, within the fourth trimester (first three months after birth).

You do not need to be alone in navigating the emotional realm of these first uncharted waters, especially for the very first time mothers. Receive care to avoid the solitude countless mothers are experiencing more and more common in our modern and technological societies.

I am not here to “teach” you how to be a mother or how to take care of your baby, but I aspire to be a mirror, hold space, and with permission awaken you to your intuition and notice the changes your body (your physical, emotional, spiritual, sexual Self) is experiencing, as well as the needs of the different stages of your child’s growth and development.

I rarely take care of your newborn or conduct by norm household chores, yet depending of the situation I may help you alleviate some of these tasks. Because in some instances, women do not have the support of closed by family members, partner or community, and so my role here, is to offer you help in how to identify and seek a supportive network (massage therapists, nutritionists, healers, etc) and provide you also with any emotional support you may need in these first 3 months.

I can be your anchor to the world, help you express your voice and again recognise your emotions and explore them deep without fear of getting lost in them. I am not a lactation specialist but I can help un-cloud any concerns, worries, expectations and the emotional implications of initial breastfeeding.
